The Excels School Improvement Plan is composed of three Power Goals set by the
district that remain constant for a five year cycle.
POWER GOAL 1
All students will increase reading comprehension across the curriculum.
POWER GOAL 2
All students will improve writing skills across the curriculum.
POWER GOAL 3
All students will improve problem-solving skills across the curriculum.
POWER GOAL 4
All students will demonstrate respect and responsibility for others in the learning
environment and school activities.
* Priority objectives from the California Achievement Test are indetified in Reading,
language and Math. These objectives become the focus for improvement.
* Priority CRT standards are identified in Reading, Writing and mathematics as determined by Criterion Referenced Tests given the prior spring.
Strategies are developed for teachers to use in the classroom that will improve
achievement in focused areas. the Middle Level Strategic Plan will be the document
used to provide classroom strategies that all teachers will use. These strategies include
The Frayer Model, Word Walls, Combination Notemaking, Reciprocal Teaching, using
Graphic Representation, Similarities and Differences, Writing in Content areas.
